Coleridge Marks 80th Anniversary of VE Day
Today, Coleridge Primary School proudly joined the nation in commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day — a day that marked the end of World War II in Europe and the beginning of peace and rebuilding.
Our pupils spent the day immersed in meaningful activities that brought history to life in a fun and accessible way. Children enjoyed colouring in themed pictures and designing their own Union Jack flags, helping them to understand the significance of the day while expressing their creativity.
The highlight of the celebration was a special picnic-themed lunch, where pupils and staff came together to enjoy delicious food in a joyful, community atmosphere. The lunch echoed the street parties of 1945, filled with smiles, laughter, and a shared sense of pride and remembrance.
Throughout the day, children learned about the importance of VE Day and reflected on the courage and resilience of those who lived through the war. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with our history and celebrate the values of peace, unity, and hope.
A big thank you to our staff, kitchen team, and families for helping to make this day so special. Your support and enthusiasm helped create a memorable experience for our pupils — one that honoured the past while inspiring the future.
